Окончание. Начало в № 4 (2021).

– Это то, что мне нужно. Не зря я тебя называю гением, – заявил одобрительно Чумба.
– Не ври. За глаза называешь гениальной посредственностью, – огрызнулся я.
– Какая же скотина тебе на меня донесла?
– Не один. Все наши друзья: Мохмад, Каташ, Чедия, Ризван. И представляешь, каждый поодиночке и под большим секретом.
– Сволочи они, согласись со мной. А ты действительно гениальная посредственность. Ты все знаешь обо всем, но посредственно.


– И стихи тоже посредственные?
– Нет. Стихи гениальные. По-другому и не могло быть в такой вечер.
Чумба снова стал наигрывать мелодию, заглядывая в тетрадь.
– Оставь! Дома порепетируешь. Сыграй что-нибудь посерьезнее, пока старик не подошел.
– Я разучил «Арабское каприччио».
– Не рано браться за Таррега?
– Ты знаешь об этом гитаристе?
– А что тут такого?
– Да ничего. Просто спросил.
– Сыграть можешь?
– Я? Со своими блатными аккордами? С ума сошел?


– А ты еще обижаешься на меня, что называю тебя гениальной посредственностью. Знаешь имя композитора, о котором никто не слышал, а не можешь сыграть даже пару его нот. А откуда ты его знаешь? По телевизору видел?
– Если и мог кто-нибудь видеть Таррегу, так только наш Абати. И то живьем в Барселоне. Телевизора тогда еще не было. Таррега умер еще до революции.
– Удивительная штука эта жизнь. Мы обойдем с тобой сейчас всю Чечню и не найдем ни одного человека, кто знает, что «Арабское каприччио» сочинил Таррега. И у такого единственного в своем роде гения девушка вышла замуж за другого, который не знает даже, кто написал «Муму». Знаешь, такое могло случиться только с тобой.
– Заткнись, а! Если хочешь сделать мне приятно, сыграй нам Огиньского. А «Арабский каприз» оставь на потом.


Небо над долиной Ясси покинуло последнее облако. Под аккуратный перебор Чумбы рождался необыкновенной красоты в миллион оттенков красного с фиолетовыми переливами закат.
Подошел Абати с большим чайником. Чумба стыдливо отложил гитару в сторону.
– Рамзан, мелодию какого народа ты сейчас играл? – спросил старик.
Чумба посмотрел на меня.
– Полонез, значит польский. Есть такой народ, Абати, рядом с Германией живет. Называется поляки, – ответил я за друга.
– Знаю такой народ, – заметил Абати. – Рядом с нами жили во время ссылки. Грустная мелодия. Чувствую, что сочинил человек в минуты отчаяния.
– «Прощание с родиной». Так она называется. А сочинил ее князь Огиньский, когда покидал родину.


– Теперь понятно, почему она тронула меня за сердце. Пока слушал вас, вспоминал день, когда нас тоже лишали родины. Люди разные и народы разные. У каждого народа свои язык, адаты, танцы и песни. Но у каждого народа есть мелодии, понятные всем остальным народам. Значит, есть в каждом народе и человеке то, что его роднит с другими.
– Абати, можно у тебя спросить? Ты не упрекаешь нас, что занимаемся музыкой? – спросил Чумба.
– Как я могу вас упрекать? Вы же никому не мешаете и делаете то, что вам нравится, – успокоил его Абати.


Чумба встал. Аккуратно зачехлив гитару, закинул за спину. Я пошел провожать его до калитки.
– Ты домой не пойдешь?
– Переночую тут.
– Доброй тебе ночи!
– И тебе доброй. Смотри внимательно под ноги. Спускаться с горы опаснее, чем подниматься.
– Что-то ты добрым стал. Не думал, что разлука с любимой может облагородить человека.
– Я не о тебе забочусь. Гитара у тебя классная. Где еще такую найдешь?
– Знаешь, что я вспомнил? Мы однажды сидели на вечеринке, и одна гостья из Аргуна попросила тебя спеть «Виноградную косточку», а мы все удивились ее просьбе.
– Помню. Она же не просто городская была. Еще и дочь художника.


– А Зезаг засмеялась из-за буйвола.
– Помню. Она никогда не видела синего буйвола.
– Ты не понял тогда главного. Она не видела тебя.
Я умолк, прислушиваясь к ночной тишине.
Там, внизу, стихли звуки гармони и дробь бубна.
Скоро в доме Манты погаснут огни. Я начал осознавать, что мир, который хотел построить для себя, бесшумно растворяется в сумерках. Он не был из стекла, чтобы можно было бы заново склеить из осколков. Он был всего лишь из мечтаний и грез.
Я не хотел оставаться один в эту ночь.
Зайти в дом не было сил. И тогда я потянулся обратно к скамейке.


Абати вернулся.
– Где Рамзан?
– Ушел.
– Зови его обратно.
– Зачем?
– Позови.
Я побежал к краю горы.
– Чумба!
– Слушаю тебя, – отозвался из темноты голос друга.
– Возвращайся обратно.
– Зачем?
– Не знаю, Абати зовет.
– Почему не знаешь?
– Сказал же, что не знаю. Может, хочет послушать «Богемскую рапсодию» в твоем исполнении?


Я вернулся к скамейке и присел рядом с Абати.
– Хочу сказать тебе, пока мы одни, – сказал старик. – Ты все продолжаешь думать о ней. Надеешься на что-то. Но она теперь принадлежит другому. Я знаю, что сейчас творится у тебя в душе, о чем ты думаешь сейчас. Это дракон ищет место в твоем опустевшем сердце, выжигая в нем все то, что рождает мечту и надежду. А что такое человек без мечты и надежды? Бойся дракона. Не впускай его в свое сердце. Не дай ему обжиться в нем, иначе будет он всю жизнь наущать тебя не верить никому, ибо нет любви и счастья там, где нет веры друг в друга.
Бойся дракона, иначе приучит он тебя разрушать замки, которые ты будешь строить каждый раз в своих мечтаниях, если почувствуешь, как начинает оживать твое сердце. С тобой это случится не один раз.


Я знаю тебя. Ты слишком прост и доступен. В тебе нет тайны. Но ты не переживай. Мало кому дано отдать свое сердце без остатка другому. А ты можешь, и в этом твоя сила. Зезаг не разглядела этого в тебе и потому легко поддалась увещеваниям матери, разбудившим в ней внутренний голос. Люди понимают цену настоящего, только потеряв его, и всегда хотят вернуть его, когда, погнавшись за тем, чего у них нет, остаются ни с чем.


Я учил тебя быть настоящим и не жалею об этом. У тебя другой путь. Не знаю, каким долгим он будет, но знаю, что будет трудным. Тебя оставила та, которую ты любил, но жизнь не кончается для тебя. Ты должен оставаться самим собой. Всегда и везде.
Отвратись от дракона. Не корми его своими терзаниями. Береги свое сердце для той, на голос которой оно отзовется. Она же не будет виновата в том, что тебя предала другая. Она придет к тебе за своим счастьем и поделится этим счастьем с тобой. Поэтому живи надеждой. Не оставляй ее без своей веры. Пока вера и надежда живут в твоем сердце, дракону нет места в нем. Не забывай об этом никогда. Слышишь меня?
– Я тебя слышал всегда, даже когда ты шепотом разговаривал с муравьем. Слышу и сейчас, Абати. Слышу.


Старик молчит. Молчу и я. Слышен скрип калитки. Это Чумба возвращается к нам.
– Абати, – прерываю я наше молчание. – Я давно знаю, почему ты пришел жить на эту гору после возвращения из Сибири, хотя все просили тебя вернуться в село. Сколько себя помню, ты всегда смотришь на дорогу, по которой уходила твоя Румани. И ты ждешь ее. Никак не можешь привыкнуть к мысли, что она не вернется к тебе.
– Я понял это уже через год, как мы вернулись из ссылки.
– Но тогда зачем ты…
– Мне это нужно было, – перебил меня Абати. – Я не мог жить без надежды.
– А мне иногда казалось, что с головой у тебя не все в порядке. Жить без электричества, паспорта, пенсии, телевизора и радио.
– Зачем они мне, когда у меня есть ты? – то ли спросил, то ли признался самому себе Абати.
Я не знал, что ответить своему старому другу.


– А кто тебе открыл мою тайну? – спросил меня Абати после недолгого молчания.
– Нана. Она сказала, что ты останешься жить на горе, пока не вернется та, которую ты любил, и от которой отрекся 40 лет назад, чтобы спасти ей жизнь. Прошло столько лет. Она не вернется, Абати.
– Знаю, сын мой. Но в тот день, когда я смирюсь с этим, мы зарежем с тобой нашего Дунгу и устроим поминки.
– По той, которая бросила тебя?
– Нет, по той, которую я помню.
Я представил себе нашего бычка, которого валят на землю под ноги Вашали, читающего молитву с огромным с ножом в правой руке. Увидел женщин, приготовивших к разделке туши большие алюминиевые тазы. Услышал последний крик Дунги о помощи.


– Абати, – крикнул я неожиданно для себя.
– Что? – спросил старик.
– Мы теперь вместе будем ждать ее.
– Кого?
– Нашу Румани!
Абати улыбнулся:
– Это ты подумал о Дунге!
– Конечно. Я же Румани и в глаза не видел, – признался я. – Просто я понял, что нельзя терять надежду, если от этого зависит чья-то жизнь.
Вернулся Чумба. Присел рядом, отложив кожаный футляр с гитарой в сторону.
– Ты куда заторопился? – с легким упреком спросил Абати. – Я хотел рассказать вам одну историю.


Чумба уныло посмотрел на меня. Я развел плечами, но он этого не заметил.
– Слушаем тебя, Абати, – заявил Чумба, стараясь придать голосу уверенный тон.
– Вы когда-нибудь бывали в Бена-Ведана? – спросил старик.
– Нет, Абати. Но по карте знаю, где это село, – ответил за нас двоих Чумба.
– Это у подножья больших гор, где берет начало Ясси, – уточнил Абати.
– Сколько себя помню, всегда тянуло к этим горам, – сказал я. – В раннем детстве мне они казались краем земли. Мы с ребятами каждую зиму мечтали взобраться на них весной и, дождавшись ночи, потрогать руками звезды. Жалади рассказывал нам, как его отец однажды поднялся на самую высокую из них и дотянулся до своей звезды. Мы, конечно, не поверили ему. Побежали к его отцу Яту. Он внимательно выслушал наш спор. Конечно, он сказал, что Жалади врет. Оказалось, что Яту с земли не смог дотянуться до неба, потому что мал ростом. Пришлось ему забираться на крышу трактора.


– И так он дотянулся до неба? – с улыбкой спросил Абати.
– Да, Яту сказал еще, что небо стеклянное, а звезды – всего лишь обычные лампочки, которым не нужно электричество. Он даже показал нам одну. Она была синего цвета и не похожа на обычные.
– И ты ему поверил? – с веселой усмешкой спросил Чумба.
– Эту лампочку ему привез мой отец из Баку, но я постыдился уличить его во лжи перед ребятами.
Абати снова улыбнулся:


– Тебе было стыдно за другого?
– Да, Абати. Но я не особо и думал об этом. Меня увлекло другое. Что же там дальше, за его стеклянным небом? Извини, Абати, мы прервали твой разговор.
– Ничего-ничего. Так вот, это было давно. Очень давно. Задолго до войны с Гарман-падишахом. По нашим селам разнеслась весть, что из Хонкар-Мохка в Бена-Ведана вернулся молодой юноша. Множество людей, узнав об этом, потянулись туда. Ведь это был единственный случай, когда кто-нибудь из наших мухаджиров вернулся обратно. Но следом пришла еще и другая весть из Беноя, что возвратившемуся было бы легче принять гостей в один день. Чтобы не получилось так, что придут с дальних мест люди, а его не окажется дома. При этом беноевские старейшины просили всех настоятельно, что не стоит ограничиваться отправкой одних посланников. В гости ждут всех желающих.
